Indiana Blogs

Over the past few days I’ve been working on a new blog I plan to launch named IndianaBlogs. Basically it’ll work like this:

  • User adds his/her website/blog to our blog DB
  • User fills in metadata about their blog. (ex: geo coords, county, city, region, university
  • Now user is listed on our site under server indices, sorted by the various meta data
  • In addition their site will be added to a cool visual map of indiana with a marker indicating their exact location!

All of that will be done via PHP. The site is currently running, albeit with no PHP goodness, but the design and markup is pretty much finalized and I think I’ve got MT set up how I want it for the site.

Now all I have to do is write up some simple PHP (except for the map) and start collecting sites. I’m also hoping to write up some sort of blogroll.

What’s a blogroll? Well it’s a script that checks the list of sites every hour or so to see if they’ve been updated. If they have, it will be noted in the blogroll.

Hopefully this will turn out to be a very cool project ;) Take a look at it and tell me what you think

Most of all, let me know if you hate the color scheme. It looks pretty good on a Mac but it looks a bit brighter on a PC. Hopefully once I get all the hard work done I can try out a few more stylesheets and tweak the colors.
