Friendster fired an excellent employee for having a blog. Jeremy Zawodny (big mySQL guy at Yahoo!) encourages you to cancel your friendster account to show them how you feel about the situation.
A little more background might be in order. Friendster fired this employee (Joyce Park) who has written some very informative articles about why Friendster went with PHP vs. Java was fired by her company (Friendster) for “having a blog.” No discussion was had, no policy was in place. She was simply fired and the reason they gave to her was simply, “blogging”. This and this were the only two posts that even ever mentioned her job.
This is truely unacceptable. I canceled my account yesterday.
