In a nutshell:
- Add a button to your toolbar and a keyboard shortcut (opt+s for now) to your browser . If you don’t see it show up there by default, you can right click the toolbar and “customize toolbar” and drag it in.
- By default will attempt to determine if the site you’re on has specified a link tag with rel=“shorturl” or similar and give you that.
- If it can’t find that it’ll get you an is.gd link for the site.
- Alternately, if you have a bit.ly account, you can use that and you can override the cases when the site has link tags specified.
Caveats: I’m told the button nor the shortcut will work on currently open tabs when you install the plugin, it’ll only start working on new tabs. I’m not sure if this is a bug with Safari 5 or with my plugin, but its not a huge one.
